Ariad

Privacy policy

This policy explains how Ariad handles information when you use our website and our golf app for iPhone and Apple Watch. For questions or privacy requests, contact support@ariad.golf.

Information you provide

We store your account identifier, sign-in information provided by Apple, Google, or phone authentication, and the profile details you choose to add, such as your name, photo, home course, and GHIN number. We also store your golf rounds, scores, shots, equipment, preferences, friendships, comments, likes, reports, and support messages so these features work across your devices.

Location, motion, and contacts

With your permission, location powers nearby courses, GPS distances, round maps, shot tracking, and nearby playing groups. During a round, tracking can continue in the background. Motion and fitness access supports automatic shot detection. On Apple Watch, workout permission keeps golf tracking active; Ariad does not read your Health records or save a workout to Health. Recorded shot locations and round information can sync to your account. You can change these permissions in device Settings; features that depend on them may then be unavailable.

Contact matching is optional. If you allow it, Ariad normalizes phone numbers on your device and sends hashed phone numbers to find other golfers. Contact names and your full address book are not uploaded for this feature. Hashed phone numbers can still identify a person and are treated as personal information.

Purchases and diagnostics

Apple processes App Store payments. RevenueCat helps us associate purchases and subscription status with your account; we do not receive your payment-card details. Sentry helps us investigate crashes and errors. Our infrastructure providers process technical information such as request logs, IP addresses, device and app versions, and diagnostic events to operate, secure, and improve the service. The website uses Vercel Analytics to understand aggregate visits and usage.

How we use and share information

We use information to provide Ariad, sync your golf data, manage accounts and memberships, deliver notifications you enable, respond to support requests, and prevent abuse. Service providers including Supabase, Cloudflare, Vercel, RevenueCat, Sentry, and Apple process information to deliver these functions. Information may be processed outside your country.

Your profile can be found by other golfers. Accepted friends can see your shared scorecards, and people playing together can see the group scorecard. Comments are visible to golfers who can view the corresponding round. The round-replay setting in Me → Privacy controls whether friends can replay your rounds. Blocking hides your individual scorecards and comments from each other. Shared group outings remain visible through the remaining golfers, while blocked golfers’ cards and comments are omitted. Blocking also restricts friend requests and round invitations; it does not remove copies of information someone has already seen or saved.

We do not sell personal information or use it for cross-app advertising tracking. We may disclose information when required by law, to protect people and the service, or in connection with a business transfer subject to appropriate privacy protections.

Your choices and account deletion

You can edit your profile, remove your photo, change replay sharing, manage blocked users, and control notifications in the app. Device Settings lets you revoke location, contacts, motion, and notification permissions.

To delete your account, open Me → Edit profile → Manage account → Delete account. Deletion removes your account and associated personal golf and social data from our active systems. Playing partners retain their own scores. Deleting an account does not cancel an Apple subscription: manage or cancel it in Apple’s subscription settings. If you used Sign in with Apple, you can also remove Ariad from your Apple Account’s Sign in with Apple settings.

We keep information while needed to provide the service. Limited information may remain where necessary to meet legal obligations, handle disputes, prevent abuse, or maintain security. Backups and service-provider records may take additional time to expire or be removed. Contact us for access, correction, export, or deletion requests, including requests concerning service-provider data; we may need to verify your identity.

Children and policy updates

Ariad is not directed to children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information. We will update this page when our practices change and provide additional notice when appropriate.
